The Bistroo Breakdown: Monthly Progress Report — November 2023

Every month, we publish a monthly update to our token holders and broader community. Welcome to the November 2023 edition. Last month, we brought more clarity to our BIST tokenomics, continued working on the upcoming releases and made many improvements on the Merchant Portal and Consumer App.

General & Sales

  • We released the updated BIST Token Utility & Tokenomics Overview. You can check it out here.
  • We published the 5th blog from our DePIN blog series, “The Future of DePIN: Opportunities and Challenges”. Give it a read here.
  • A new merchant onboarding partner-program is in the works and has kicked off last month with the first partners within The Netherlands. We are looking for sales partners willing to onboard new merchants for a nice incentive. If there’s any interest in this, please reach out to any of the moderators in our Telegram channel and they will relay the information to the team.
  • The AI generated e-commerce web pages for merchants, which is our BistrooPage product, is currently in the final phases of testing and will be brought into production in December.
  • Our subsequent Proof of Concept AI use-case is taking shape and a Beta version of this product will be revealed in December (delayed from November) as well.
  • In November, the order volume has grown 123% year-on-year.
  • 2652 first-time users placed an order in November 2023. That is an 18% increase in first-time customers year-on-year compared to November 2022.
  • 853 new user accounts were created in November 2023. A year-on-year increase of 22% in new user accounts signed up on a monthly basis.
  • 18 new merchants have been on-boarded in November 2023.


  • We prepared a second NYP campaign. What is unique about this flight is a direct mailing; a postal piece with a credit card-like card is attached to it. On the card is a voucher code which grants a 25% discount. The campaign started on the 25th of November and will run for just over two weeks. We are curious to see whether this approach (direct mail + discount) will yield good results. If so, this is a tactic we will be using more.
  • After testing and good results, we doubled down on lo-fi video ads, also called Ugly Ads. We created a total of six videos in two batches.
  • We started a large scale link building project specifically for restaurants with a Bistroo Page, building links to those Bistroo Page websites. This will increase the chances of the Bistroo Pages outranking our competitors for bottom-of-funnel (BoFu) searches.
  • We created a segment for business customers, ordering lunch or dinner from work. We want to communicate more effectively with them, by providing other more relevant content than we would serve the entire email base.
  • We launched a new A/B test at the checkout.
  • Two consumer surveys have been launched to better understand why consumers order with us and which obstacles they face.
  • We crafted and set up a social media treasure hunt.


Merchant Portal

  • We added extra features (title, disable function) for Delivery areas.
  • We added tracking for self on-boarding.
  • Logs have been improved.
  • We implemented an extensive sentry.
  • We implemented POS device persistence layers for order fetching and printing.
  • Improvements have been made for the establishment selection on the POS device.
  • We added a new live view header on the POS device.

Consumer App

  • We crafted and set up a social media treasure hunt.
  • We added a Cancel payment option when the checkout modal closes.
  • Send platform to segment.
  • The Total Amount has been fixed (the gift card was not included).
  • The time slots fetching has been improved.
  • We improved the Marketplace closed card.
  • We added UTM tracking to the segment.
  • Only start active experiments (A/B Testing).
  • We improved the design for Out of Stock.
  • The Dist modal can be closed or switched to take-away when adding a product.
  • We made improvements on the Category slider.
  • We made some SEO/SSR reworks.
  • We made some fixes for the Payment intent for Stripe.
