The Bistroo Utility Testnet is now LIVE!
Today marks a big milestone in the further development of BIST’s utility and the Bistroo Ecosystem as a whole. With the release of our Utility Testnet we take a major step towards implementing the first set of our envisioned use cases of our Ecosystem token.

Dear valued community members,
We’re very happy with your support over the past few years as we built Bistroo. Let’s take the plunge together into the first major step towards real world utility for BIST!
As Bistroo operates in a real world use-case scenario: ordering, delivering and enjoying your favorite dishes, we first had to create the infrastructural foundation for the use-cases to actually add value. We had to create the world’s first food-oriented and fully SaaS, peer-2-peer, e-commerce ecosystem for ordering your favorite meals and beverages. Next, we had to validate this newly created ecosystem by onboarding merchants, generating a growing orderflow with more and more customers coming in— and above all, streamline these processes to be fully ‘hands-off’. This is a key requirement in scaling our e-commerce infrastructure around the world in the years to come.
We’re wrapping the last big milestone projects for this in Q2–2023. With this foundation almost completely in place, it is the perfect time to start beta testing for the next step. The implementation of BIST’s utility within our production environment, planned for later this year.
Our team thanks everyone that has been supporting us along the way. We promise to keep on growing and building in a sustainable way to support restaurants, specialty goods makers and their customers!
The Utility Portal
The Utility Portal is the Beta environment for our community to test and feedback the first two smartcontracts. The Portal features the Escrow Contract, which lets you simulate the placement of an order and the subsequent acceptance by and payment to a merchant. The second contract is the Reward Contract. With this contract, you can refer a friend, for which you’ll receive BIST when they accept the referral and sign up.
The Utility Portal runs on the Polygon Testnet. You’ll be able to claim BIST and MATIC on the Mumbai Testnet when connecting with your MetaMask wallet tthrough the Portal.

The Escrow Contract
With the Escrow Contract, you can simulate what a direct transaction with a merchant would look like. Follow the video guide or the steps listed below for an introduction:
- Connect you MetaMask wallet. You should see a popup that prompts you to login to the wallet you want to use.
- Open the faucet to request MATIC. Repeat this step for BIST as well. Your balances will be shown once these steps are complete.
- Hit ‘start order’ to receive the popup with the order information. Hit ‘order’ to confirm and place the order.
- The merchant has now received the order. Hit ‘register’ to accept the order from the merchant’s side. This will give you a MetaMask popup in which you’ll also need to confirm the test transaction.
- Once the order has been registered, you should hit ‘pay order’, after which the payment will be sent into escrow. This means that the payment will not be released to the merchant until they have performed their side of the transaction (prepared and delivered the food).
- Hit ‘send delivery’ to send the order to the customer.
- Once arrived, hit ‘confirm delivery’. You’ll receive a MetaMask popup again to confirm the delivery and release the payment from escrow to the merchant.
The Reward Contract
With the Reward Contract, you can simulate what a referral to a friend would look like. Follow the video guide or the steps listed below for an introduction:
- Connect you MetaMask wallet. You should see a popup that prompts you to login to the wallet you want to use.
- Open the faucet to request MATIC. Repeat this step for BIST as well. Your balances will be shown once these steps are complete.
- Hit ‘refer’ to receive a MetaMask popup to confirm your referral.
- Your ‘friend’ has now received your referral. Hit ‘register’ to accept the referral. You’ll receive a popup welcoming you to Bistroo. Hit ‘sign up!’ to register the confirmation.
- Once the message ‘Thanks, I got a reward!’ is displayed the referral has been confirmed and the ‘customer’ wallet will have additional funds in it from the referral.
